Choral evensong and Organ concert

February 26, 2023 @ 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm

Live stream available on YouTube

An afternoon of prayer and musical celebration for a time of transition

4:30 pm Choral Evensong, led the St. Bartholomew Choir

The service of choral evensong has a history of nearly 500 years, and is of the great liturgies of the Anglican tradition, beloved not only for its legacy of beautiful music, but also for it spiritual depth.  In England, Choral Evensong services are broadcast on radio from many of the great cathedrals and university chapels, often attracting tourists and, increasingly, young people.  Close your weekend with this unique opportunity to unplug, reconnect, and be spiritually fed. No need to fly across the Atlantic!

5:15 pm Organ concert by Dr. Ted Davis

For the first time since 2019, we are re-starting our ongoing celebration our spectacular Casavant-Storey organ completed in 2007. While you may hear it on Sunday mornings, you might be surprised by the instrument’s full potential when given the opportunity to “let loose” a little more!
In celebration of Black history month, the afternoon’s music will include works of
Samuel Coleridge Taylor
Florence Price
Norman da Costa
David Hurd
